DO YOU WANT TO PLAY COLLEGE SOCCER?
ABOUT COLLEGE SOCCER RECRUITING
College soccer offers athletes the opportunity to continue studying and playing their sport at a high level. There are over 1,000 colleges that offer college soccer and it's very competitive with many international players on college rosters. However, to get there you will need to focus on the fundamentals in the earlier stages of high school. College soccer programs are always looking for team players that are motivated both on and off the pitch. College soccer season starts in fall and the Final Four and Championship game is played in December.
If you want to maximize your exposure and be seen by college coaches you need to create an online recruiting profile with an NCAA verified third party. Your profile allows college coaches to properly assess you as a prospect because it includes all the information they want to see such as your recruiting video, key stats, academic level (GPA) and contact information.
WHY PLAY COLLEGE SOCCER?
-
Maximize your potential: Learn and apply the values that are useful in all aspects in life. College sport teaches you the importance of teamwork, leadership, goal setting, work ethic, time management, discipline and handling pressure.
-
Develop relationships and make connections: The network you create from your sport can open the door for many things in life including job opportunities, friendships and partnerships.
-
Live a healthier lifestyle: Regular exercise helps boost immunity and contributes to overall physical health.
MEN'S SOCCER SCHOLARSHIP STATISTICS
The following table numerically summarizes the availability of men's soccer scholarships across the United States. Note: This shows the number of maximum scholarships a college can provide. This is called “fully funded”. However, many colleges do not have the maximum and therefore the number of total scholarships can be less than shown in the table. Athletic scholarships at colleges change yearly with increases and decreases, so you cannot fully determine who has available scholarships except by joining a network like ImRecruitable where you can find out directly what is available from the coaches.
HOW TO MAKE A SOCCER RECRUITING VIDEO
Follow the guidelines that we have set for creating a highlight video, and you will be on your way to gaining attention from coaches to ultimately earn a college scholarship.
-
Shoot video from at least a few feet above the ground to gain a higher perspective (the use of a tripod will be necessary).
-
Do not zoom in and out of the player or ball
-
Be able to get multiple players in the shot to show full play
-
If showcasing a field player, footage should only be game footage
-
Do not add any special effects (music etc…)
Match footage should include:
-
Goals (shots on goals and assists)
-
Corner kicks and goal kicks
-
Crosses
-
Steals and tackles
-
All passes (clean passes to teammates)
-
Thru balls
-
Keeping possession
-
-
Ball handling
Goalies
-
High and low dives to both the left and right
-
High balls (punching)
-
Punting
-
Goal kicks
Notes
-
If a midfielder, coaches want to see that you are able to handle the ball and push it up the field.
-
If a defender, coaches want to see that you can tackle and steal
-
If a goalie, coaches really want to see lateral movement and all around athleticism in the box.
-
When making a footage of a match, try adding an arrow or try highlighting where you are on the field when the play starts.
